RunWalkCycle to Malawi

In a bid to support Tom and Petal's reforestation campaign, we're travelling 7,756 miles to Blantyre - Strava style. You too can get involved for a £10 donation and a whole lot of peddling, running (or gentle walking).

If you'd like to get involved, join our Strava Club and help us cover the 7,756 miles through Europe and down through Algeria, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania. You'll receive regular updates and take part in on the group chat as we negotiate the challenge we've set ourselves.

In the last twenty years alone, Malawi has lost 85% of its trees to people desperate for wood-fuel for cooking and keeping themselves warm. If this continues unchecked, the country will run out of biomass to sustain its population by 2025. Through Zomba TREEZ, Tom and Petal are working with their local community to plant and just as importantly nurture new trees, promote natural regeneration and implement fire prevention strategies.

The RunWalkCycle to Malawi is one of three fundraising initiatives we launched this Spring to support our partners manage the disastrous impact that the Covid-19 pandemic is having on Malawi's healthcare system, economy, tourism industry and ecological programme. We are also organising a virtual horse racing evening and an incredible silent auction, open to all.

For all the information you need to take part in this important reforestation fundraiser, take a look out our website: RunWalkCycle to Malawi.

Or just make a donation to Zomba TREEZ.

And make sure you follow our progress on WMP twitter.
