Christmas upcycling auction

The Upcycling Club was busy this Christmas selling items rescued and carefully restored throughout the Autumn term in the DTE workshop.

These students, from S6 through to S1, managed to raise over £500. This takes the total donated to Watson's Malawi Partnership this year to a staggering £1600. On behalf of all our partners, thank you!

The most popular item in the December auction was a pine bench, restored by Zoe Wagstaff, Rachael Nash and Katie Pink from S4. The bench was discovered on the street but once these girls had dismantled it, then sanded, waxed, polished and reassembled all the pieces, it went from that to this. No wonder it received 15 competitive bids!

Another instant sell-out are these teak pens, upcycled from bits of the old wooden stage that was dismantled to make way for the new organ. The pens were sold out within two hours of going live.

Other hot items included coasters made from old pallets and climbing rope, a wine holder from an old drum and a child's wooden bench.

So if you want to be in with a shout next time, keep a look out on  DTE Upcycling Club website.
