Primary 6 discusses climate change with Zomba TREEZ

As part of the Junior School's focus on COP26 summit, Primary 6 children worked with Petal from Zomba TREEZ to understand more about climate crisis and its effect on Malawi in particular.

The children sent video questions to Petal about the effect of climate change in Malawi.

Petal responded with 12 videos describing life in Malawi and highlighting the impact of climate change on her local community. From drought, low crop yields, stagnant lakes, a scarcity of timber, limited energy sources and forest fires: these are all very real issues that the villagers in Zomba have to contend with on a daily basis.

Petal introduced the children to the work of Zomba TREEZ where they try to tackle the desperate deforestation of the plateau by planting, nurturing and protecting woodland.

The children created posters which will be recreated by Malawian artists and displayed in their educational huts.

A big thank you to Petal from Zomba TREEZ for giving up her time to produce these wonderful educational videos and inspiring our children.
